Mora Park, 251 hectares, was a typically low production farm from the Riverina region, Deniliquin, with mixed soils; heavy clay on the surface, and a sandy subsoil. The only water supply to this farm is from one MIL wheel. Poorly developed over the last 30 years, Mora Park was purchased by a group of private investors in 2006. The project involved developing the farm with state-of-the-art water efficient infrastructures with limited capital investment. A survey and farm plan were drawn up for the installation of a 425m radius towable Centre Pivot (2 x 56 hectare plots), fed by an underground pipeline through the sandy subsoil, and 40 hectares of laser level flood bays suitable to grow winter cereal crops, or a rice crop, in the clay topsoil. A 125 ML dam was constructed to ensure a minimum of 1 ML/ha could be irrigated to complement natural rain fall.
